My West Village For Rent

For the past couple of years we have noticed that many of our neighborhood stores and restaurants have closed in the West Village.  It's a sad day when your favorite Italian restaurant decides to move location.  Many of these store fronts are still for rent.

If I were a developer- I would do the following:

I would turn this into an affordable Japanese Restaurant.

and this one into the Kid's Toy Store that burned down (so sad) ...
and bring back the Biography book Store

and maybe a Chinese Noodle Shop... Momufuko Noodle Bar could you come here?

and maybe could our dentist move down here?

Now Hiring Ice Skating Baristas

Do you Ice Skate?  Are you looking for a  job?

The Standard Hotel is opening an Iceskating Rink and needs Baristas and Rink Staff.
I am sure you can wear a little more than the girls above.

Unfortunatly, I am not so graceful on the ice.  But I love the idea of ice skating in New York.  My sister got us into it last year.   This seems like a very fun winter activity!    Hot Chocolate anyone?

To apply: nycjobs@standardhotel.com
Check out their listing on Craig's List just posted yesterday.

Nanette Lepore in the West Village

Nanette Lepore is a Fashion Designer, who lives in the West Village.  Nanette's home explodes with creativity; I love the whimsey.  The old and the new, the colorful, sparkly and then just simple modern white.     She was featured in a September article in  Elle Decor.   Also take a peak at Nanette's  Spring Fashion 2011.  After the blizzard, I am so ready for Spring.

Beautiful Blizzard in My West Village

There is a blizzard outside, which makes it feel warm and cozy on the inside.   What a wonderful way to end the Christmas holiday weekend.  We walked to the Gourmet Garage to pick up a few essentials to keep us going through the night.  Here are some images of the neighborhood on the way to the market .    The snow just makes the city slow down.

Christmas Dinner in the West Village

If you are having meat for Christmas dinner,  check out my favorite neighborhood butcher, Ottomanelli & Sons.   Ottomanelli & Sons has been in business for over 4 generations.   They also specialize in gamey meats such as venison.

This past weekend, we had family over to decorate our tree.  My husband's 12-pound, 5-rib beef roast took 4 hours and it was delicious.  It was the perfect meal for a cold day.  All ten of us loved it.  Thank you Ottomanelli!

The Brit is coming to My West Village

Over the weekend I was running around My West Village shopping for Christmas, only 12 days away!  I noticed that my favorite building in the neighborhood is going to have a new shop very soon.  Do you remember the old one? It was a french antique furniture store, I can not remember the name.

I miss walking by that beautiful store, but I can't wait to meet the Brit!

Coming soon on the corner of Bleecker and Charles Streets.

My West Village NYC - Oh Christmas Tree!

It doesn't feel like Christmas until we go and buy the Christmas Tree.   On the corner of Christopher and Hudson Streets in My West Village, there is a Christmas tree stand.   We have bought our tree here for the past 3 years.   These trees come all the way from Canada!  Everyday there is a fresh new batch and what is amazing is they come in all different sizes.  1 - 13 feet, to fit even the tiniest West Village apartment.
They deliver, but we used our muscles and carried ours home.

Our tree is not decorated yet, but look at this.   These West Villagers decided to decorate before they even put the tree in the house!

A Romantic Rainy Day in My West Village

Let it rain ~

There was so much rain today it is unbelievable.  Sometimes when it rains this hard I think the sun will never come out.

No taxis to be found in the morning.

Colorful rainboots and umbrellas look so nice against the grey dreary morning.

There's something about the rain that seems so romantic, reminds me of Paris.

Let it rain, because soon there will be snow.

My West Village Photo

This is one of those romantic shots I took this morning. I wonder where she is going?  To a cafe,  a book store, to meet her lover - oh we are not in Paris we are in my west village.
